What 1X does
1X (1x.tech) is a Palo Alto, California-based AI and robotics company focused on building general-purpose humanoid robots intended to perform real work for people at home and (initially) in other environments. The company’s flagship consumer product is NEO, described as a “friendly home robot” designed to integrate into everyday life and complete chores through a combination of conversation-based interaction and physical task execution. 1X has also deployed a prior generation of humanoid/robot offerings for enterprise use, including EVE Industrial, and it positions its technical differentiation around end-to-end “embodied AI” learning loops—using data from real robot deployments to train models that can then be evaluated and redeployed. The company is currently in a production-scaling phase: it announced full-scale production at its NEO Factory in Hayward, California, and stated capacity targets for NEO output as it ramps manufacturing and prepares additional facilities.
