AI Whistleblower Initiative

What AI Whistleblower Initiative does

The AI Whistleblower Initiative (AIWI) is an independent non-profit focused on improving how “frontier AI” insiders can raise credible safety or misconduct concerns and get them acted on. Its stated approach combines (1) early, specialized guidance for potential whistleblowers (including legal/financial pathways and anonymized expert input), (2) research and publication of policy analysis to strengthen AI-specific whistleblowing rules and reporting channels, and (3) advocacy campaigns aimed at increasing the availability and transparency of company speak-up mechanisms for AI workers.

AIWI also positions itself as an intermediary between individuals and the wider whistleblowing ecosystem—helping connect insiders, lawyers, journalists, and support organizations—while emphasizing privacy, confidentiality, and consent as core operating principles.
