Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative

What Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative does

Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative (CBAI) is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022 that focuses on AI-safety research and education, with an emphasis on building the local pipeline of technically capable students and early-career researchers in the Cambridge/Boston area. CBAI’s programs combine (1) research work that it conducts and/or supports (with published research highlighted on its site), (2) structured, in-person fellowship programs in AI safety and AIxBiosecurity, and (3) technical upskilling via short bootcamps. It also acts as a “Model A” fiscal sponsor for student-run AI Safety teams at Harvard and MIT, providing administrative and operational support so those student groups can sustain programming and research activity.
