European AI Office

What European AI Office does

The European AI Office is a unit within the European Commission (DG CONNECT) established to support a single, coherent EU approach to AI governance and to help implement and enforce the EU AI Act—especially for general-purpose AI (GPAI) models. It acts as the Commission’s central “AI expertise” capability for evaluations, guidance, investigation, and compliance-support activities under the AI Act, while also contributing to EU policy work aimed at accelerating adoption of trustworthy AI (including support for AI innovation ecosystems and international AI engagement).
