Granola

What Granola does

Granola (granola.ai) is a bot-free AI meeting-notes and “work memory” application built around a simple loop: users write rough notes during meetings (optionally guided by meeting templates), Granola transcribes the meeting using the user’s device audio, and then Granola enhances what the user wrote into clean, editable notes. Over time, those meeting artifacts accumulate into searchable, queryable conversation “evidence” that users can share and use as context for follow-up work.

Product-wise, Granola centers on (1) a notepad experience for each meeting, (2) Granola Chat for asking questions across notes and transcripts (with source-linked citations into transcript segments), and (3) team-oriented collaboration constructs such as shared folders and Team Space (introduced as Granola 2.0) that let organizations pool notes and run folder-level queries.

Granola differentiates from “meeting bots” by not joining calls as an attendee; instead, it runs on the user’s laptop/phone and captures audio locally, which the company positions as reducing intrusiveness while keeping the user in control of what gets shared. Granola also emphasizes auditable outputs via inline citations and transcript-backed statements in Chat.

From a deployment and business model perspective, Granola offers a free tier (with limits such as basic history/query windows) and paid plans for business and enterprise, with additional capabilities for teams (shared folders, longer history/query) and integrations/APIs (including an MCP connector and personal/enterprise APIs).
