Lightmatter

What Lightmatter does

Lightmatter is a semiconductor company building photonic infrastructure for AI data centers, focused on replacing bandwidth- and energy-limited electrical interconnects with dense silicon-photonics-based optics and “light engines.” Its product strategy centers on Passage™, a 3D-stacked silicon photonics interconnect platform, plus Guide™ light-source technology (including VLSP-based variants), and supporting optical/packaging components that target co-packaged and near-/on-board optics deployments. Lightmatter also develops photonic compute hardware and a software stack around Envise™ and Idiom®, positioning the company across both AI interconnect (to keep GPUs fed) and photonic acceleration (to reduce compute energy per workload).
