What Nous Research does
Nous Research is an open-source AI lab and products company building (1) open-weight language models and (2) supporting infrastructure for model creation and distributed training, and then packaging those capabilities into an agent-centric developer/user experience centered on its Hermes Agent. On the products side, Nous positions Hermes Agent as an “open-source self-improving” agent that runs across common communication channels (e.g., chat and messaging platforms) and can be hosted via its Hermes Cloud offering. On the infrastructure side, Nous also operates open/distributed training concepts it describes through Psyche (a decentralized training network) and related optimization/scheduling work, aiming to coordinate heterogeneous compute and training across the internet. On the distribution side, Nous offers Nous Portal as a “single sign-in” account that connects Hermes to a model catalog, tool gateway, and cloud hosting, with claims of access to hundreds of models through the Portal experience.
