Responsible AI Institute

What Responsible AI Institute does

The Responsible AI Institute (RAI Institute) is a U.S.-based, member-driven nonprofit “do tank” focused on making responsible AI governance practical through independent assessment, verification, and standards-aligned assurance programs. RAI Institute’s core offering, TrustX, is described as a member-led framework that helps organizations classify agentic AI risk, validate governance with evidence, and issue third-party trust badges (i.e., independent assurance rather than self-attestation). The institute also runs sector initiatives (TrustX Health and a TrustX for Finance initiative) and publishes governance resources and programs through its membership community and annual working-session conference (RAISE). Strategically, RAI Institute positions itself as vendor-neutral and standards-aligned, with an emphasis on operationalizing responsible AI controls against referenced global standards and frameworks.
