SecureBio

What SecureBio does

SecureBio is a U.S.-based nonprofit biosecurity organization developing technologies and research to reduce catastrophic biological risk, including risks involving pandemic pathogens and dual-use biotechnology. The organization’s work is organized around (1) Detection—pathogen-agnostic early-warning approaches intended to identify novel threats before they become widely detectable—and (2) AI and Biotechnology Risks—evaluating how frontier AI systems could contribute to biological misuse risk and exploring mitigations tied to measured risk thresholds. SecureBio also describes itself as collaborating with academia, industry, and government, and as engaging with AI safety policy ecosystems (including NIST-related initiatives and European AI governance channels) to translate technical evaluation work into decision-relevant outputs.
