What Shield AI does
Shield AI is a U.S.-founded defense technology company building autonomy software (“AI pilots”) and autonomous aircraft for contested environments where GPS and communications may be degraded or denied. The company’s core software platform is Hivemind, which it positions as an end-to-end solution for developing, testing, deploying, and operating autonomous behaviors for military and commercial unmanned systems; Shield AI also offers “Hivemind Enterprise,” described as an autonomy developer platform intended to help OEMs, governments, and other organizations proliferate resilient, edge-deployable autonomy. In parallel, Shield AI builds unmanned aircraft products—most prominently V-BAT (a VTOL UAS for ISR and targeting in electronic-warfare settings) and X-BAT (an AI-piloted VTOL fighter jet).
