What Nscale does
Nscale is a London-headquartered “full-stack” AI cloud and sovereign compute infrastructure provider that designs, builds, and operates GPU infrastructure end-to-end—spanning data centers and power, GPU clusters, networking/storage, and an AI infrastructure software layer—to serve enterprise and government AI training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads. The company positions its approach as “vertically integrated AI infrastructure,” with modular, first-principles data center design and orchestration software intended to reduce delivery and integration risk versus relying on separately sourced compute, data-center, and cluster management components. Nscale also sells higher-level cloud services such as inference endpoints and fine-tuning, alongside platform components like managed Slurm and Kubernetes service, and “fleet operations” tooling including observability and usage/event tracking APIs.
In addition to running its own infrastructure, Nscale pursues “sovereign AI” deployments with telecom and national-constraint customers, including plans to expand UK capacity through BT partnerships and to deliver large GPU deployments for Microsoft workloads at partner sites (e.g., Start Campus in Portugal). Strategically, Nscale has been expanding its software capabilities via acquisitions; in July 2026 it announced a definitive agreement to acquire Anyscale, describing the transaction as adding Anyscale’s software layer (built on Ray) on top of Nscale’s infrastructure and cloud services, with an expected close in the second half of 2026.
Funding-wise, Nscale has raised multiple large rounds and related capital instruments since 2023, including a $155M Series A (announced 2024-12-09), a $1.1B Series B (announced 2025-09-25), a $433M Pre-Series C SAFE (closed 2025-10-01), and a $2B Series C (announced 2026-03-09) valuing the company at $14.6B; Aker ASA participates across rounds and later consolidated its position by rolling up its stake from an Aker–Nscale joint venture into Nscale (completed in March 2026).
