What Waabi does
Waabi is a Toronto-based AI company focused on “Physical AI” for autonomous trucking and, more recently, robotaxis. The company’s core claim is that autonomous driving can be made more scalable and safer by coupling an end-to-end, reasoning-capable generative-AI autonomy stack (the “Waabi Driver”) with a closed-loop neural simulation platform (Waabi World), which Waabi describes as able to generate and evaluate driving scenarios with near-zero domain gap. Waabi positions this combination as enabling reduced dependence on real-world driving miles for training and validation, and as producing interpretable representations that can be traced and validated. Waabi’s commercialization emphasis has evolved from technology demonstration toward building productized operating models: it has described a direct-to-customer trucking model that can operate across both highways and surface streets, and it has expanded its roadmap into robotaxis via a partnership with Uber. Waabi is privately held and backed by strategic and financial investors spanning AI, automotive, logistics, and capital markets, including Uber, NVIDIA, Volvo, Porsche SE, and others.
