xAI (trading as SpaceXAI on its current website) is an AI frontier-lab building and deploying Grok-family models—positioned around “frontier reasoning” plus multimodal and real-time voice capabilities—along with a unified developer platform (xAI API) and product surfaces spanning chat, coding/agent tooling, image/video generation, and voice/agent experiences. xAI states that Grok is deployed across consumer channels such as the Grok app and X, and that it also offers enterprise and government access to its models. The company’s strategy emphasizes (1) large-scale in-house training infrastructure (“Colossus”) and (2) pushing multimodal, agentic workflows into consumer and developer products, including “Grok Build” workflows that can fan out work to parallel agents and return a consolidated result. As of February 2, 2026, xAI is reported in SpaceX filings to have been acquired by SpaceX and become a wholly-owned subsidiary, with SpaceX describing Palo Alto as the corporate headquarters for its AI operations post-acquisition.
